Gus Nicolaidis Gus, partner of La Scola, is a proud lifelong Toledo, Ohio resident. He grew up on 15th Street in downtown, and he graduated from Scott High School. In 1968, Gus began working with his father, Nick at Nick’s Hotdog on Dorr and Smead. He quickly embraced the food service business and the rest is history. Gus opened the Oak’en Bucket on Dec. 16, 1970. The Oak’en Bucket became a Toledo landmark, closing in September of 2006. Additional restaurants in Gus’ portfolio include The Hungry I, The Gatsby I, The Governor’s Inn, The Avenue Bistro, and the City Diner. Gus has been married to Cheryl for 25 years, and they have two children, Ashley and Jimmy. Gus also has another daughter, Nicole. Moussa Salloukh Moussa, partner of La Scola, was born in Zahle, Lebanon. He moved to the United States with his family and grew up working in the family restaurants. This gave him the opportunity to learn the true art of service from busing tables to operating the business. Moussa followed in the footsteps of his father Faouaz. At the age of 21, he owned and operated Moosey’s Downtown Café. After that, he held management roles at several local establishments. Moussa has been married to Jennifer for 11 years. They have two daughters, Sydney and Isabella. Moussa is committed to enhancing the lives of others and creating a legacy inspired by community service. He is an active member of the Toledo Restaurant Association and the Taste of the Nation.
